Lars Jan for 3rd Audemars Piguet Art Commission

This year witnesses Audemars Piguet’s 3rd Art Commission, and LA-based American artist Lars Jan is the selected to work with guest curator Kathleen Forde and present a major new artwork during Art Basel Miami in December 2017. As Associate Partner of the event, Audemars Piguet has embodied its values through ambitious artworks at the show since 2015, and this year is definitely one not to be missed.

As a designer, activist, photographer, director, writer and visual artist, Jan always includes a technically complicated element in his work, mirroring the craftsmanship and advanced mechanics that set Audemars Piguet’s tradition of watchmaking apart. Through this year’s artwork, he explores man’s relationship with nature and highlights the brand’s support for artists not only on the monetary level, but also by providing them with access to the advanced tools and sophisticated technology necessary to finish their work.

Olivier Audemars, Vice President of the Board of Directors, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Lars Jan on the 3rd Audemars Piguet Art Commission. His works use cutting-edge technology and bold creativity to explore some of today’s most pressing issues, while also incorporating an element of advanced mechanical complexity. It will be interesting to see how Lars translates our watchmakers’ skills and meticulous working methods into his adventurous and thought-provoking project.”
