Louis Vuitton Presents its Cruise 2019 Collection

For Cruise 2019, Nicolas Ghesquière stole Louis Vuitton’s iconic show from the Louvre museum and placed it ever-so tastefully at the Fondation Maeght, located at the Saint-Paul-de-Vence village.

The designer chose a place that would both represent Louis Vuitton’s vision and celebrate art in all its glory. And so, the collection featured eccentric looks that blended the House’s codes with some form of self-expression – think mismatched styles, structured shoulders and a whole lot of freedom. Every look was like a unique picture on its own; Ghesquière sent out models wearing thigh-high leather boots coupled with oversized dresses at times or mini-skirts and tops with sliced sleeves at other times. It was as if he took the House’s moniker looks straight from the archives and turned them into revamped and exceptional outfits. Feathered tops, puff-sleeved dresses and sequined jackets were all part of Louis Vuitton’s lexicon – all of which went straight to the “I want it now” category.

The House also announced a unique collaboration with writer, illustrator and fashion editor Grace Coddington, known for her love of animals and the cats she sketches. Indeed, Coddington created an exclusive line of accessories for the House that is sure to make our hearts swoon as soon as it hits the stores in October 2018.

“My collaboration with Nicolas and his team at Louis Vuitton has been so much fun. I hope it will be a dream come true for Pumpkin, Blanket and Nicolas’ dog - it certainly is for me. It started with our love for animals, it’s where Nicolas and I really connect beyond fashion,” said Grace Coddington.
