Calming Red Skin

Pregnancy had many perks for me, but aesthetically the biggest perk was perfect skin. I always suffered with sensitive skin, breakouts and redness, but these all disappeared while I was pregnant. I thought I had finally figured out the right skin routine but low and behold, as soon as I gave birth my skin quickly went back to “normal.” Probably the part I hate the most is the redness. Breakouts are rare, but happen if someone kisses me on the cheek or when I use a brush that’s not clean etc. Basically, I usually know what causes it. When it comes to redness I feel like it may have something to do with what I eat or the lack of water I drink. It could also have to do with my hormones since they disappeared during pregnancy. The cause is a mystery to me but let’s focus on a cure. As far as products go, I have noticed the less products I use the better it is for my skin. I am guilty of using really hot water, which could be one of the causes, so a cold compress would be great to calm down redness. Also making a mask with oatmeal, milk and honey sounds delicious, right? One of the recommendations is sunblock, but if your skin is as sensitive as mine most of them irritate our skin. Instead use coconut oil, which is a natural sunscreen. Anything that cools down like cucumber or aloe vera, is great for redness as well. Last but not least, make your own toner with some mint. Use cooled down mint tea on a cotton pad and smoothly clean your face with it.
