Valentino Couture Fall/Winter 2017-2018

It’s at the heart of Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris that Pierpaolo Piccioli unveiled Valentino’s Couture Fall/Winter 2017-2018 collection, giving way to a certain frivolous sensuality. The designer balanced sultriness with fluidity, the latter depicted through the opulent layering of garments- think solid capes on oversized blouses.

The marvelous storyline continued with a myriad of ankle-grazing loose dresses and oversized coats, which in turn served as a buffer for structured trousers and straight tunics. The Valentino woman has always been one to strike with her irreverent grace and tonight, that was all too common as the models swayed to an enchanting rhythm. Colors seemed to clash oh-so-exquisitely, exploding into a canvas of pared-down sophistication. The buoyant coats were inherently the real thing, as their colors were a treat for sore eyes. Along came the voile dresses upholstered with lace inserts and the eat-your-heart out baroque style gowns. One velvet dress in particular was mounted with a majestic hoodie, bringing forth a mystical silhouette. The outfits themselves were unquestionably lovely, as they revealed cut out forms and a dreamy taffeta mélange. Amidst the sea of lavish outfits being paraded, fashion enthusiasts could recognize the House’s distinctive touch a mile away and yes, they were sold.

With intricate layering techniques and delicate swirls of ruffle taking over the collection, who wouldn’t want a taste of these wondrous pieces?
