Max Mara Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Collection

For a brand that is well-known for its top-notch coats, Max Mara did its legacy perfect justice today! There was something about the numbers that irrevocably screamed “Working Woman”, but in the classiest of ways.

Ian Griffiths paid homage to Italy’s largest fashion House by introducing pantsuits and well-tailored coats, worthy of the brand’s heritage. The “woman on the go” spirit reached the simplest of designs, from Gigi Hadid’s red turtleneck that was beautifully paired with matching culottes and maxi coat to the velvet pantsuits hanging loosely on the models. Every single look followed the “high-neck” consortium, conveniently paving the way to an effortlessly elegant line. Griffiths was clearly burning the candles at both ends, as turtlenecks were also paired with form-fitting midi skirts with a front slit. The color palette followed the same practical pattern, as colors gently swayed from blood-red hues to taupe, camel and black tones.

It was all very clear today; Griffiths was reclaiming the House’s title of “Coat Guru”, because come next fall, we’ll all be spoiling ourselves with them! After all, what’s a collection without its iconic je ne sais quoi?
