Maison Chloé Kicks Off with an Opening Exhibition

It’s at the heart of Paris that Maison Chloé opens its doors, right next to its Parisian headquarters. The new cultural space spans over five floors and will host a year-round program of exhibitions and events, as a nod to the company’s 65-year history. Indeed, the power of freedom that Chloé has granted women will be shown through collection-based exhibits and artistic expressions of the House’s femininity.

“Chloé has always believed in natural femininity,” said Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye, CEO. “Both chic and effortless, this attitude places Chloé at the intersection of Paris Couture savoir-faire and youth savoir-être – a unique position Maison Chloé encapsulates.”

For the launch of the unique space, exhibition-maker Judith Clark created a pathway through the building’s showrooms, IP fitting rooms, exhibition halls and events spaces, where a rich selection of archival pieces and images welcomes visitors into the world of  the Chloé girl. The temporary exhibition “Femininities – Guy Bourdin” sheds the light on photographer and the most important visual collaborator Guy Bourdin, who created the greatest number of editorials featuring Chloé’s designs. The focus allows visitors to revel in unseen images and clothing from the Archive.

“I love the fact that in one room you will be able to explore the archival pieces,” said Judith Clark, “then those objects are re-imagined in the exhibition next door, leading to a gallery of extraordinary prints upstairs. The Chloé dress comes in and out of the story and the building itself begins to feel as though it’s experienced via Guy Bourdin’s distorting eye.”

The tour begins with Gaby Aghion, who in 1952 established a luxury Ready-to-Wear house for free-spirited, modern women. Aghion, who was very ahead of her time, is depicted through her personal possessions and garments, as they are playfully placed against the work of the eight design directors who succeeded her at Chloé. The exhibition is now open to the public and will be running from the 3rd of July to the 3rd of September 2017, and will reopen during the FIAC from the of 18th October to the 18th of November 2017. Tickets are available at Chloe.com.
