All about Aqua Fitness

Aqua exercises have become new trends in the world of fitness, and we cannot but admit that we love them! And believe us, this type of exercise in all its forms has unexpected benefits.

Would you like to know more? Keep reading as we’re going to help you discover this new world. Before revealing its benefits, aqua exercising is about working out in the water. The exercises include water walking or jogging, one-leg balance, sidestepping, hip kickers, deep water bicycle, push-ups and swimming of course.

First and foremost, exercising in the water protects your joints, as no gravity is forcing your body weight down onto them. This does not mean that this type of workout is easier. In fact, while working out in water your muscles are forced to work harder, which leads to burning a fat percentage that is higher than the one lost during land-based exercises. For example, jogging on dry land will burn up to approximately 6 calories per minute, while jogging in water can burn over 11 calories a minute.

In addition, aqua exercises have a cooling effect on the body. While working out in water, your body doesn’t sweat to cool the muscles down; this protects you against getting dehydrated. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t drink plenty of fluids before, during and after your workout.

Aqua exercises are especially ideal for people returning to working out after an injury or a long period of inactivity, as well as for new moms and people with lower back and joints problems. That said, anyone who wants to exercise and loves the water should definitely give it a try. So are you ready to work out?
