Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2017-2018

For its Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Collection, the rocker-chic label Alexander McQueen presented a wave of fluid and elongated silhouettes resting on a myriad of medieval-inspired models. The collection itself was a nod to pagan landscapes, particularly the “Cloutie” Trees that have long constituted places of pilgrimage, what with their ribbon-embellished branches and twigs. Deconstructed Medieval armors slowly drifted on numbers, while cross-stitched fabrics echoed Sarah Burton’s millennial inspiration. Embroideries of flora and fauna were scattered around loose dresses, unveiling a riot of wild strawberries, curative herbs, baby deer and English meadow flowers. Along came the color lacing, taking over knits and washed leathers. It was all very glamorous but also exquisitely edgy, putting into sight various degrees of enchantment, from the shearling coats to the tailored cashmere tuxedos.

Colors elegantly skewed from ivory hues to soft grey, antique rose and of course…black! Sarah Burton’s massive touch will surely be trickling down to style mavens come next fall, don’t you think?
