Who is Hellène?

Meticulous, perfectionist but mostly fictional, Hellène is a character created by designer Hussein Bazaza for the launch of his Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection. What should you know about her? She’s the starring character of a story feeding the imagination of Bazaza, and sending out a powerful message to he who is a victim of the “illusion of perfection”.

More specifically, the story of Hellène unravels a character seeking to reach ultimate perfection through evil and vicious means. As said “acts” result in the creation of a monster, Hellène finds herself destroyed both emotionally and physically and consequently stuck in a garden between right and wrong awaiting judgement day.

What’s it all got to do with Hussein Bazaza’s collection, you ask? Why it’s the basis of this illusion that helps create the uncreatable and the vision of an enchanting garden between wrong and right that sets the tone and mood for the collection. And so, the pieces reveal a dreamy palette with colors skewing from light greens, fiery reds, bright blues and hints of yellows, while fabrics feature a luscious blend of feathers, sequins, satin, denim, story-telling embroideries, and chiffon. Spoiler alert: expect a new version of Bazaza’s lace collage couture piece, story-telling prints and a whole lot of geometric cuts and color-blocking trademarks.

So now that you all know Hellène, sift through the Photo Gallery below to discover Hussein Bazaza’s dreamy collection for Spring-Summer 2019.
