Valentino Spring-Summer 2019 Collection

Black will prevail and today, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s collection for Valentino proved it in the most eloquent of ways. With the millennial aesthetic leading the way, Piccioli conjured up a plethora of black flared silhouettes – silhouettes that had a very voluminous and avant-gardist appeal.

There were lace ensembles, big ruffles on billowing dresses and oversized androgynous shirts paired with tailored trousers. Pops of bright red made their way onto the collection, instilling it a certain joie de vivre. Some of the pieces had a big white “V” logo scattered on them, reminding us yet again of the designer’s sway towards modernity. Halfway through the show, a plethora of colorful pieces took center stage, making way to nature-inspired colors, from orange hues to yellow tones, shades of pink and purple and some other charming prints. The accessories swayed from big-buckled belts with the House’s V insignia, to feathered sandals and leather top-handle bags.

But hey, we’re betting red-carpets everywhere are going to be happily welcoming that gorgeous plunging black gown.
