Valentino Couture Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Collection

Paris Haute Couture week has seen models such as Kaia Gerber and Cindy Bruna take over the runways in confidence and style. And it all ended on a very happy note with Valentino’s couture show, where the shapes were as extravagant as ever and the colors as charming as colors can be.

Pierpaolo Piccioli summoned a unique Versailles-meets-60’s feel at the heart of the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild, one that was mostly apparent through the big brushed-back wigs and the silk gowns, alongside a series of renaissance-inspired looks, from the taffeta dresses to the overwhelming and extravagant shapes that seemed to envelop the models ever-so elegantly. Some outfits featured illustrations of gods and goddesses, while others took on the form of colorful intarsia gowns. Colors skewed from mauve to pink and of course, the moniker Red Valentino – which was splattered across the iconic strapless gown. Capes were matched to cropped pants and the gowns were so voluptuous it was a treat for sore eyes!

With ruffles reigning over the collection, it was truly a well-deserved standing ovation for Piccioli’s ingenuity.
