UlysseNardin at SIHH 2019

Last year, it was all about UlysseNardin’s “Freak Vision” at the Salon de la Haute HorlogerieInternationale. This year, the luxury Swiss watch manufacturer has unleashed – alongside the Freak X watches – the Skeleton X timepieces and they’re all everyone’s been talking about. Boasting revolutionary innovations, indisputable techniques and exceptional savoir-faire, the Skeleton X collection is bold and powerful and is sort of an X-ray interpretation of the future of watchmaking design. In other words, what you see is what you get. And there’s plenty to see, from every detail of the architecture to the functioning of time and whatnot, leaving nearly nothing to the imagination – but in the best way there is.

Granted, it was first introduced back in 2016, but the Skeleton X watch is merely a successful attempt at aiming for a younger crowd. It’s also the result of a lavish combination between classic watchmaking codes and more sporty designs, all meshed into one single creation. An X is formed in the dial by four of the indexes and hence framed in a rectangle, which turns inside of a circle, making for an exquisite geometric play. Inside of it all, the hero of the story, the balance wheel in Silicium.
