Before you say that nothing can make it easier as you’re probably feeling overwhelmed – and you have every right to be, let us just start by saying we’re here for you. Simple tricks and ways of thinking can leave remarkable effects on your life and the life of your little one. Even though some new moms are lucky enough to have help at all times, the guilty feeling seems to always find a way to make you uncomfortable. So, mainly speaking to those who have to deal with this alone or with the slightest help, these few tips and reflections will be a help in their turn.

  • You’re already doing a great job: you contributed to bringing a baby to life!
  • You should keep in mind that feeling good will always make your little one better. So, don’t neglect the fact that you should take care of yourself as well. Not skipping meals is the least you can do, especially if you’re breastfeeding.
  • No mom will ever fully understand what she’s doing or if it’s right or enough; that’s totally normal so don’t be so hard on yourself.
  • You’re absolutely right to miss your pre-baby body as it goes through many changes, but it needs some time to come back to a sort of “normal”, and that’s totally understandable since it spent almost a year forming a baby.
  • Prioritize your tasks. Doing the dishes might be necessary but getting a power nap is definitely a better choice. From doing the laundry to cleaning the whole house, and everything in between, some things will have to wait.
  • Take advantage of the little help you get not only by catching up, but also by preparing things ahead, like extra meals and bottles.
  • Get your partner involved as much as possible. He’s a new dad as well, so bear in mind that he’s overwhelmed too. Communication is key to keeping everyone at ease.
  •  Stay in touch with your doctors, as no matter how much you read and try researching on your own, they are the ones who know better and most importantly know your case.
  • “Sleep while the baby sleeps” might not always be an option, but you should definitely sleep whenever you can. So, make sure to take shifts with your partner.

In short, time heals everything: with time you’ll get used to your new life, your body will adjust, and you’ll definitely enjoy even more having your little one around.
