Body positivity is not a mere buzzword that is trending at the moment, it’s a philosophy you live by that allows you to be more confident about yourself while taking into consideration your health and wellness. In fact, loving your body is easier said than done. Thinking of your body as a gift rather than a curse requires daily effort, although sometimes it might get boring. So, without further ado, let us tell you about a few ways to debut your self-love journey the right way!

  • The most basic and effective way to express your gratitude towards your body is telling yourself encouraging words in the mirror every day, writing them on sticky notes placed on your bedside table or putting daily reminders on your phone and computer. And no, this is not silly nor boring!
  • Think about being healthy, not skinny. Whether you’re preparing your meals or exercising at the gym, don’t think about the number you see on the scale, but rather about your health. A diet should not be a punishment; think about it as a lifestyle that revolves around making you a healthier version of yourself while letting you enjoy every bite of your food.
  • Body positivity is not only about you, but also about the people you meet in your daily life. If you’re too harsh on yourself, you will be equally harsh on them when commenting on their figure – which is never your place to do so. Therefore, stop doing that and take this new resolution as a chance to compliment them on any achievement they might have made.
  • Ditch everything that might bring you negativity. Yes, you are at a place in your life where all you need is to surround yourself with positivity. Whether on social media platforms or in your daily life, steer away from everything that might make you feel bad about yourself and about your body.
  • A very important step towards achieving body positivity is to stop comparing yourself to others. You’re not them and they will never be you. Cherish your uniqueness and focus on the things you like about yourself!
  • Treat your body to something nice. A gift always makes things better, and this also works when you’re willing to show your body how grateful you are for it. It could be a massage, a bubble bath or a simple nap… Just listen to its needs and make it happen.
  • Last but not least, it’s very important to never mistake body positivity for a way to give up on your wellness goals. Adopting body positivity doesn’t in any way mean letting go of what you have achieved so far in your journey towards a healthier you.
