Gel Nail Polish is probably one of my favorite inventions after contact lenses! Don’t you hate waiting for your nails to dry after an hour of getting a manicure? Once you get home you are bound to somehow mess up your nails. Enter gel manicures! No drying, no chipping and fabulous nails for two weeks! Sounds like a dream, until you decide to fully remove your gels. Since I was packing to move to a new house, I knew my nails were going to get quite the beating so I decided to remove my gels and not wear any polish at all. During this process, I was horrified of how thin and unhealthy my nails felt. The best way to describe this was as if there was a pain in my nail beds like my nails were falling off. Sounds a bit dramatic, but it felt very weird. After a week or so I went in for a manicure and decided to only do regular polish. My nails were getting better but I knew I needed a break from the gel. Needless to say a couple of days later my polish started to chip. Although I was proud to give my nails a break from gel, I knew I had to get my fix of perfectly manicured gel nails and went back to the salon. My advice to you is to take a break here and there perhaps between seasons. Ideally, only get gels for special occasions.
