Gucci Spring-Summer 2019 Collection

As part of a three-part homage to France, Gucci staged its Spring-Summer 2019 collection in Paris’ legendary Le Palace theatre. Pegged as the hub of Parisian culture and nightlife for years and years, the theatre was just the fuel to Alessandro Michele’s theatrical mind. The show was a mashup of different cultural references and time periods, as models gathered around the stage welcoming a unique performance from Jane Birkin.

The pieces represented the Parisian style mixed with American vibes in such a way that they were utterly remarkable – think a sleeveless denim jacket with the image of country singer Dolly Parton on the back, sweatsuits à la Gucci and leather jockstraps. A faux fur pink coat was elegantly paired with a pleated dress, while a hat inspired by Janis Joplin’s style complimented a look ever-so perfectly. Every piece was very well referenced, including the bag shaped in the form of Mickey Mouse, as a nod to the House’s collaboration with Disney.
