On Saturday, September 21, 2019 and in a private event held at the Monte Napoleone Flagship store, Gucci celebrated the release of the book MADE IN HARLEM: A MEMOIR written by Dapper Dan, a friend and partner of the House. The book covers the evolution of its writer’s life especially in the fashion industry where he redefined haute couture.

Coming from an extremely humble background, he had to work with drug dealers to survive, a decision which eventually landed him in jail. And that was the turning point in his life; while in prison, he decided to write a memoir about his journey. The hungry boy who ended up becoming a world-famous designer dressed many cultural icons like Mike Tyson, Alpo Martinez, Naomi Campbell and Jay-Z.

With his full story written for the first time, covering more than 70 years of experience, Dapper Dan’s book MADE IN HARLEM: A MEMOIR is a must read!
