For his Couture Spring-Summer 2023 collection, Georges Chakra explored opulent volumes to present a youthful interpretation of extravagance. Striking colors were his choice, paving the way to a fresh expression of femininity paired with dramatic decadence. Neon yellow, vibrant coral, flame rose, emerald hues, lime and bright mint added an electric energy to the collection, while silk gazar – for which the designer has a passion – was seen throughout the collection, as well as exaggerated volumes.
Every look was singularly statuesque, embodying the savoir-faire of the Georges Chakra Couture atelier. Pleats took various forms, adding a graceful touch to the silhouettes, which were symmetrically structured as a nod to classicism. As for the accessories, they exuded pure boldness through oversized pearls that adorned bare torsos, cuff bracelets that dressed wrists, a shoulder-length single earring set with multi-colored stones and satin mules in champaign and silver supplied with neon heels.
As for the finale, it was as dramatic as the collection itself. A bridal gown executed in striped blue and rose pastel-printed silk Mikado and hand painted in broad strokes of bright metallic silver, as well as a traditional ball gown featuring a train that presented dramatic volumes through printed soft gazar and ice blue tulle pleated and shaped into wave-like fans, ended the show and left us in awe of the designer’s wild imagination and exceptional take on couture.
