The sentence “Shine bright like a diamond” couldn’t be truer today at Elie Saab’s Spring-Summer 2020 Couture runway show, as models strutted their good looks down the runway in pure glam.
Every year, the Lebanese designer presents his prestigious creations amidst a sea of avid show-goers, but what was so special about this year’s collection? Could it be the brocades overflowing the runways? Or the golden spirit that was obviously succeeding with flying colors? Truth be told, it was this whole mélange of royal-meets-fashion that was striking a chord with everyone. After all, the first look was an asymmetrical high-neck beige and gold gown with majestic balloon sleeves and dangling earrings, worthy of the designer’s irreverent touch. Along came exquisite ensembles of wide-legged trousers with cinched blazers - all of which were drenching in touches of gold and royal patterns. There were ruffles, volumes and sheer fabrics blending all together in a sensual melting pot. More colorful satin dresses with statement sleeves and sultry high-slit were also all the rage, making way for Cindy Bruna’s entrance in a show-stopping gown that will surely make its way to the biggest red carpets.
