CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Ready-to-Wear

For Spring-Summer 2021, Virginie Viard imagined a collection that captures the glamour of actresses and stars with whom the house had privileged relationship both on and off-screen. The current COVID-19 crisis didn’t stop CHANEL from expressing its never-ending creativity, but rather opened the door to additional charm.

Faithful to the concept of cinematography, the French house joined forces with Dutch photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to shoot a series of photographs and videos. Three different decors saw the stunning collection coming to life on models Rianne Van Rompaey, Mica Argañaraz and Louise de Chevigny. They embody the natural elegance that has always been synonym with CHANEL no matter the situation – whether on the phone, gazing out of the window, sitting on a bed or walking through the heart of Paris.

That was just a preview of the collection and the show proved once again that CHANEL could never disappoint. As the collection appeared on the runway, a modern-meets-retro vibe took over the Grand Palais. Reminding us of cinema’s golden age were Bermuda shorts paired with crop tops and blazers, straight midi dresses, asymmetrical skirts and of course, a dash of sparkle fit for those much-anticipated summer parties. Accessories further shed the light on the collection’s theme – think sunglasses and headbands supplied with fishnet veils, to name a few. And just like every time, CHANEL proves that creativity knows no boundaries.
