CHANEL Couture Spring-Summer 2020

Once again, the Grand Palais has opened its doors to host yet another one of CHANEL’s runway shows and much to show-goers’ surprise, it transformed into a cloister garden. Why so? Long story short, it brought back the sweet memories of Gabrielle Chanel’s childhood, and more specifically the ancient Cistercian Abbey of Aubazine. The décor, enticing as it was, was nothing compared to the collection revealed.

As a matter of fact, Virginie Viard held the promise of adventure close to her heart as she sent out models in tweed knee-length dresses, white tights and black mocassins – kick-starting a reserved-meets-elegant spirit ahead. The collection had all sorts of shapes to it, from striped tweeds to button-down tweed dresses and charming round lapels. Along came Gigi Hadid in a black button-down maxi dress with polka-dotted trimmings, looking as fabulous as ever. The pieces were both serene and sophisticated, discrete yet completely enticing. The CHANEL bride on the other hand reflected the Abbey’s beauty with the House’s irreverent refinement.

Watch a preview on the collection below.
