Alaïa Winter-Spring 2022 Collection

Home of the Maison since 1987, the Parisian Rue de Moussy witnessed a true tribute to Alaïa as a man, a master and a house that left its everlasting mark on the fashion world. For his debut show, Pieter Mulier paid an ode to the Maison and to femininity, which was cherished by the house’s founder above all else. The female body was the focus, and the fabrics covering it in their comfort and architecture were like a second skin, evoking sensuality in the best possible ways.

The designer returned to the beginning in order to usher in a new chapter, which explained the use of leather, metal, knit, cotton and textiles in unconventional silhouettes and therefore, the revisitation of Alaïa’s codes of the unexpected. Embellishment became an inherent part of the clothes and accessories, and complexity mingled with simplicity and purity to pave the way for a series of hooded silhouettes and drapery that evoke the founder’s Mediterranean roots.

Stamped in the reality of now, this collection revived Alaïa’s unparalleled knowledge of French couture and unmistakably made women feel alive, but this time, through the eyes of Pieter Mulier.
