You’re glowing! How to Tan Your Face

With all the knowledge we have about sun damage to our skin, you know very well that tanning your face is a definite no no. Although the skin on our bodies and especially the chest area is also very dangerous to tan, most of us are still baking at the beach. If you’re wearing a hat or a high SPF sunscreen on your face, bravo for protecting yourself. Unfortunately, what you end up with is a light face and dark body. Although bronzers are a nice way to darken up your complexion, a beautiful glow can be achieved with a self-tanner for the face. This way your body and face can be evened out safely.

A couple of nights before, start exfoliating your skin so that you don’t get uneven patches. Use a moisturizer to keep your skin nourished and hydrated.

Clarins Delectable Self-Tanning Mousse SPF 15 is great because it’s a moisturizer, gradual tanner and has a built in sunscreen as well. A gradual tan is less tricky than an instant tan because once you are close to achieving the color you want you can stop the next day. To avoid getting too dark or orange and looking silly, start the process a few days before your event instead of panicking on the last day. The Clarins one is pretty subtle so you can get away with using it even on the palest skin.

Have an event tonight? La Prairie Gradual Tanning Lotion takes only a few hours to work.

When it comes to Bronze, Guerlain is also a great option. If you are a procrastinator like me and want to see a difference right away, try the Guerlain Terracotta Jambes de Gazelle. This is an easy to use spray that makes you look like you just got back from a vacation. You could also use this on your body; I like to put it on my arms and legs. Another reason I love it is the fact that there’s zero commitment, you can just wash it off if you don’t like how it looks.

One way of making this look more natural is to apply more on areas you would apply a bronzer. This way it looks like you got dark only where your face hits the sun. Do even this out by spreading it all over so it doesn’t look blotchy. When using tanning products use a plastic glove so you don’t mess up your nails and hands. I love this look because I feel like I could wear less makeup and get away with it.
