Why The Nou Project is the Brand to Know

The fashion board has designers navigating the art scene for design-related inspirations and it’s as invigorating as ever! The Nou Project, a new artist-designed bespoke sneaker brand in New York, brings forth a slew of standard sneakers featuring “Wearable art” prestige.

The brand was conceived by Saudi-born Nour Al Tamimi and co-designed with Lebanese-born Basma Chidiac. The duo met when Nour was completing her MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s, as she coincidentally met Basma, a Parsons student.

Consider it an artistic platform for emerging artists like Nydia Lilian from Mexico, James Rawson from the UK and Rex Chouk from Saudi Arabia, whose unique styles shape the sneakers ever-so perfectly. The result is a series of limited edition high-top, grain leather sneakers, used as a canvas for artists to show off their talent. Numbered from 1 to 300, each sneaker is a unique piece on its own, lighting up when exposed to flash. The soles unveil a unique grainy recycled rubber, inspired by asphalt and street art. Featuring white, nude and black versions, the sneakers are a product of high artistry, putting The Nou Project on a high pedestal.
