Wearing Yellow- the Do’s and Don’ts

Okay, we know the drill; you’ll stop wearing black when they create a darker color. Believe us, we’re all riding the same dark- albeit chic- wagon. But it just seems to us that change is ironically the only constant in life, be it within your sartorial wardrobe choices or anything else for that matter.

And while this is a no-brainer for some, others might cringe at the thought of wearing yellow, fearing they might turn out like a human version of Tweety.

When designers busted out the somewhat fluorescent color on the Fall/Winter 16 runways, we were all kind of baffled.

I mean come on, it’s not the most flattering color there is. But some people seem to manage that quite well! So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to give you a little insight on how to fashionably pull off wearing yellow.

If you’re not a big fan of this color, there are many ways to rise above your distaste. Do pick lighter shades or even pastel hues.

Don’t go all out with the yellow-mania. Meaning, don’t go parading in yellow from head to toe, you’re not a banana and definitely not a Birdie!

Do instill a dab of yellow in your accessories. For instance, pick a yellow tote or even yellow shoes to match your outfit.

Don’t pick a yellow hue that blends with your own skintone. The trick is to pick a shade that stands out, without it being too flashy.

Do pick a satin yellow piece to go with your outfit. Two birds with one stone!

Yellow blends well with stripes, so do throw on a yellow jacket over a striped top.

Don’t make it too tacky. Stick to primary colors and let the yellow shade pop like a big-fat bubble!
