Swarovski and Iris Van Herpen Celebrate 10th Anniversary

Swarovski honored the 10th anniversary of Iris Van Herpen’s atelier and the launch of her debut crystal collection “Designer Edition by Iris Van Herpen for Swarovski” at Paris Haute Couture, which was unveiled during the Dutch designer’s runway show and at a reception at the Hôtel d’Évreux. The designer’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection was an aquatic couture spectacle called “Aeriform”, inspired by Danish underwater artists, Between Music, who performed sound sculptures on custom-built instruments while submerged in transparent water containers.

“Air and water are the structural and visual components of the 18 elaborate silhouettes, influencing the development of both the textiles and the garment construction, which is reflected in their volume, rippling patterning, and translucent layering,” said the designer.

Van Herpen, a member of the Swarovski Collective since 2015, finds her footing in mixing old techniques with futuristic innovations, such as using crystals for instance. Indeed, her runway show included a tulle dress embellished with Couture Studs especially curated by Swarovski. Following the runway show, Swarovski hosted a reception at the Hôtel d’Évreux, where the “Designer Edition by Iris van Herpen for Swarovski” was unveiled. The first-ever collection for Swarovski included Growing Crystal, 3D Studs and a black clutch as part of her Aeriform show that shined with the Growing Crystals adorning it.

A riot of celebrities and A-listers graced the event such as Daphne Guinness, Philippe Ferrandis, On Aura Tout Vu, Saskia Diez, and Shourouk. Model Coco Rocha paid homage to the crystal house and the Dutch designer by wearing jewelry from Atelier Swarovski and a dress by Iris van Herpen.
