Shoes and Bags - To Match or Not to Match?

Look around you; every woman walking right past you seems to be strutting her good looks in sheer confidence, holding on tight to her bag like it carried her deepest secrets. Now look really closely, and you’ll notice that some of these women have matched their bags with their shoe color, while others simply omitted that tiny little detail. Or did they?

It has long been argued that shoes should go right along with your bags, as to create a specific norm. But as we ponder this ultimate question, we’ve come to realize that this statement is very outdated. Look at it this way; would you match your nail color to your lipstick? Never. With the evolution of fashion, style casters have remolded the entire outlook, arming women with a unique ability to run wild and free with their choices.

There are so many options you could go with instead of sticking to your average-joe choices that it is simply not allowed to enter the same-color-zone anymore. Our advice to you is to take a one-way ticket out of there and surprise us with your best skills. So how to match your shoes and bags, you might ask?

The answer is as simple as a rough coordination and not- we can’t repeat this enough- a matching equation. You could be wearing a care-free outfit and nothing but sweatpants and sneakers but should accessorize it right, you’d get a fashionable standing ovation.

Having a personal sense of style comes through bags and shoes and there’s no way around it, so you might as well play with the visual effects with coordinated efforts. You could combine textures, different shades and of course prints! One thing in particular you should pay attention to is to not overwhelm the eye. Keep it simple but very chic.

Here at Azyaamode, we’re strong advocates of the not-so-matchy look, so we’ve prepared a small list of guidelines you should stick to in order to venture the mixing routine we’re so proud of!

  1. Black and navy? Yes, yes and forever yes.
  2. Neutral shades and glossy textures? Also yes.
  3. Printed patterns mixed with solid patterns? Go for it!
  4. Metallic finishes with your run-of-the-mill colors? Kudos!
  5. Leopard print and red? So in!

So what are you still waiting for to give your outfit a whole new identity?
