Reverse contour

Just when you think you’ve got contouring down, there’s a new technique called the reverse contour. Don’t worry, it’s the same concept but tweaked to help issues like redness. Let’s say you are using a liquid foundation, what you would do is apply the lighter color on your cheekbone line, and then apply the darker color above and below it. You’re basically using this to hide redness instead of using an allover lighter shade which might be too light to cover your red areas.
What you’re trying to achieve is more dimension as opposed to just one color of foundation all over which doesn’t look natural.
I love this concept for a number of reasons. First, we have all bought foundations in the wrong shade whether it’s too dark or too light. What I used to do was mix them together, which is basically what we are doing here but more strategically. I always thought I was supposed to use concealer over my red areas, but come to think of it, my concealer is very warm compared to my foundation color. The tip is to use the darker color wherever the redness exists and the light color on all the other areas. I can’t wait to try it and finally have use of all those wrong shades I have bought in the past!
