Museo Salvatore Ferragamo Presents ‘1927 The Return to Italy’

The 19th of May, 2017 marks ninety years since Salvatore Ferragamo returned to Italy from the United Sates. Indeed, on this special day, the museum dedicated to the designer in Florence will be opening a new exhibition to the public, entitled “1927 The Return to Italy”.

Curated by Carlo Sisi and designed by Maurizio Balò, the exhibition revisits Italy’s twentieth-century visual culture, and more specifically the themes and works of art that influenced Ferragamo’s creations. Presenting a galore of works of art by Maccari, Martini, Thayaht, Gio Ponti, Rosai, Balla, Depero- amongst others- the exhibition will also unveil clothing and fabrics from the era, as well as finely crafted objets d’art, photographs and advertisements. Guests will also get a closer look at the shoes created in the 1920s, a nod to Ferragamo’s similarity with his contemporaries in the art world. Lastly, the museum will also be offering its guests an extensive catalogue published by Skira.

Head to the Photo Gallery to view snippets of the upcoming exhibition.
