We all have that small room in our house we would love to take advantage of, but its space-or lack thereof- might annoy us. It’s too tight to be used as a bedroom and definitely too small to be turned into a second living room. That said, with a little help from us, maybe you’ll be inspired to turn that useless space into the perfect little nook.

As with every family, there’s always a member who dreams to have their own comfy and cozy sanctuary, and you’re about to make that dream come true! Whether you’re doing it for your brother or your future sleepover guests, by using the right techniques and elements-as listed below- you will easily turn that room into a gorgeous welcoming space.

1 – A bed with built in storage space underneath it gives the room a cozy feel. Add to it a wall-mounted night stand and a light fixture to maximize every inch of the floor space. You can also use a transparent chair that provides necessary seating but visually disappears.

2 – Another way to maintain floor space is to add build-in shelves, which also helps you gain storage space. Shelving that is maximum 12 inches deep is ideal and placing the bed between two columns of shelves will make the latter act as bedside tables and will eliminate any need for extra furniture.

3 – In a small room, always avoid blocking natural light because the ideal place for a bed is in front of the window.

4 – Double your room’s visual space with a closet that includes mirrored doors. This trick works best if the mirrored doors extend from the floor to the ceiling and from the wall to the other.

5 – Finally, let’s talk about the wall colors. Ideally, they should be the same as the color of the ceiling, because this helps erase the shadow lines that visually define a space.

Now that you have all these tricks up your decorating sleeves, that annoying useless space can turn into the perfect mini-haven for you or your guests! Enjoy!
