Fashion lovers, rejoice! The moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived as Florentine brand Gucci has announced that its Cruise 2018 show will take place- for the very first time in history- in the Palatina Gallery of the Pitti Palace on May 29th, as part of a multi-faceted cultural project with the Uffizi Gallery and the city of Florence.

Indeed, on a vast quest to strengthen its ties to the city, Gucci will be contributing Euros 2 million to the project entitled “Primavera di Boboli”. The latter pegs itself as an effort to restore and improve the Boboli Gardens, under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism, with funding from the Municipality of Florence and in partnership with the Uffizi Gallery. The Boboli Gardens date back to the 16th century and span over 33-hectar, putting into sight an exceptional gathering of sculptures, architecture, landscaping and plants from all around the world.

Marco Bizzarri, President and CEO of Gucci, said "This collaboration represents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and sustain Florence's cultural splendor and I would like to thank all the institutions that are involved. Gucci is a global brand with strong roots in Florence. The success we have achieved in recent years through the vision of our Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, is reliant upon the skills, spirit of innovation, passion and abilities of the craftspeople and everyone else who works for the brand in Florence and the surrounding area. Following the presentation of the last two Cruise collections, in the art district of New York in 2015 and in the cloisters at London’s Westminster Abbey in 2016, staging the next Cruise collection show in the heart of Florence has special meaning, particularly as Alessandro is constantly inspired by the city's renaissance masterpieces."

Dario Franceschini, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, commented: “Fashion is an important part of the culture and history of our country, where style, elegance, and education to beauty are part of our DNA. The relationship between fashion and art is very strong, and has always nurtured unique collaborations. As it is happening today with a prestigious Italian brand which decides to invest in a cultural institution while remaining faithful to its mission. It is very positive that such great entities, representative of culture and creativity, are on an ongoing courageous conversation.”

We hope you’re prepping yourself for some serious eye candy, because the Gucci Cruise fashion show will be taking you on an exceptional Renaissance ride full of the House’s marvelous perks! The Photo Gallery, right this way…
