Drop Dead Gorgeous

There is no getting away from parties this season – soirees, cocktails, dinners – whether at your workplace, hosted by friends, in the company of family or a social do. Besides your wardrobe, which you spend time selecting carefully, you’ll need statement accessories like earrings.

With earrings, you could go subtle or bold; depending on what you’re wearing and the occasion, of course. If you like bold, we’d recommend long, drop earrings because danglers are back and they do make a pretty statement. However, take care to choose one that suits the shape of your face best; long danglers aren’t meant for everyone. If you have a heart-shaped face, by all means go for danglers and chandelier earrings. Diamond-shaped faces can be accented with long, curvy earrings. Long face-shape? Avoid long danglers; keep it short and sweet.

Now that we’ve covered a few of the basics dos and don’ts, it’s time to talk about some gem-encrusted options. Bulgari’s Giardini Italiani high-jewelry collection has a lovely dangler in white gold set with white, round diamonds and emeralds swaying amidst diamond pavéd flowers.

Some of our favorites include Chanel’s Fontaine earrings in diamonds and sapphires, earrings from Chopard’s Red Carpet collection, Dior’s high-jewelry Siamese fighting fish danglers, de Grisogono’s Melody of Colors earrings, De Beers Talisman drop earrings, Van Cleef and Arpels’ Cerfs-Volants earrings with kites flying in the sky.

We have also selected lovely pieces to add drama to your ears: earrings from Garrard’s Wings and Entanglement collections; Alexander Arne’s Awakening – a dangler in gold, set with spinel; Anna Hu’s gorgeous Ellington emerald, Turandot ruby and Pétales d’Amour earrings; a pair of spidery danglers and floral motif ones by Wendy Yue; sculpted earrings in diamonds and onyx from Lalique’s Adrienne collection.

L’Dezen has diamond slices in its angular-shaped Roaq earrings, while Sutra has shimmering rubies set into a floral motif. Then, we have Yoko London with pearl options, Leyla Abdollahi’s Radiant earrings in rhodolite, diamonds tourmalines that wrap along the ear lobes, while Emily H London has a beautiful pair of Paraiba earrings, which are evocative of peacock feather motifs.

And now for the highlight: a rather technical piece by Tom Rucker. A pair of platinum danglers in rare, white diamonds wherein multiple, thin strands of platinum wires are laser welded to craft the jewelry. A conversation starter at parties? You bet!
