Dior Homme Explores New Horizons for Fall/Winter 2017-2018

For the Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Advertising Campaign, creative director of Dior Homme Kris Van Assche tapped into the bold and the new, appointing British photographer David Sims and stylist Mauricio Nardi to take the House’s creativity to a new visual universe.

The collaboration marks Kris Van Assche’s ten-year anniversary at Dior Homme, representing the multifaceted creative persona of the Dior Homme man. As such, the campaign unveils the season’s new characters, American actor Lucas Hedges and Depeche Mode front man Dave Gahan, both of whom joined French model Dylan Roques and new Belgian face Christophe T Kint. Channeling a cinematic contrast created in diptych layouts, the characters embody a melting-pot of creative talent from across the music, film, and fashion industries and most importantly, from across generations and disciplines. The result? An “evolution of style” true to the House’s timeless classicism.

The close-up and full length portraits present the season’s deconstructed and pinstriped tailoring mixed with metallic hardware and rubber-soled trainers. Another youthful take reveals a raw youth energy heightened by Sims’ signature play of shadow and light. Kris Van Assche’s bold fashion message comes across with the images of graphic ready-to-wear styles, varsity-inspired outerwear and wide tailored trousers, paying homage to the House’s new journey. Intarsia knitwear showcase slogans like ‘there will be noise complaints’ and ‘they should just let us rave’. The video by David Sims entitled #intothenight, accompanies the photographic portfolio.
