Dana Al Khalifa’s Must-Pack Essentials

If you’ve ever wondered- and we’re sure you did- who’s the beautiful face behind the blog “The Overdressed”, then allow us to introduce you to Sheikha Dana Al Khalifa, a Bahraini-based fashion maven. Just a mere peek into her notorious Instagram account reveals more than a few stylish inspirations, a couple of bright colors and a big load of flair!

But should you dig deeper into her glitzy agenda, you would inherently find that she’s the perfect combination of brains and beauty. Add a little background in law and a ravishing personal style and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for success! The brunette’s reign in the fashion scene runs blood deep, as she inherited this irrefutable love for styling from her grandparents.

What’s great about Sheikha Dana’s style is that it is unabashedly classy yet oh-so glamorous! In a widely uncertain world, she seems pretty steady, as she’s taken a new view, celebrating both beauty and polished flair. With a huge swathe of style and a love for travel, the Bahraini beauty is given us a sneak peek into her travel must-haves.

What do you love most about travelling?
The thing I love most about travelling is walking! I choose destinations where my legs can take me everywhere. My day to day agenda is usually spent in a car, so when I travel, I look for anything related to nature and physical mobility!

Travel destination
Europe offers me everything I look for when traveling. There’s history, good food, nature and beautiful cities. I lived in London for a long time so I am a little biased, but I also love Paris and Brussels. I am also dying to discover Vienna and Munich.

Favorite airport style
I’m quite minimal, airport-wise. I usually go for a nice pair of super black leggings or lycra skinny jeans combined with a white top and a loose, longish jacket. Sometimes I wear a linen cargo jacket, and other times, I just wear a sleeveless trench. I take my eye glasses with me to be contact-free during the flight and a cashmere scarf that doubles as a blanket.

Favorite travel wardrobe-packing choices
Pack outfits, and easy on the prints while packing! I like to pack plain clothes too so that I can mix and match easily if I’ve changed my mind on an outfit. I also bring more flats than heels because I’ve learned over the years, that people everywhere- other than Khaleejis - are a lot more practical and no one expects you to come to dinner in heels! A beautiful pair of flats would do, and would be better if you decide to take a walk after dinner!

Ultimate travel-friendly shoes
Common Projects.

Favorite bag
Something discreet and plain. At the moment I am loving my new suede Celine bucket bag. It’s got so many pockets on the outside for quickly getting your passport and boarding pass out.

Must have beauty products
Green Bar everything! For the flight I need my Green Balm with me to moisturize my skin during the flight. Lemongrass is a predominant essential oil in Green Balm and it really relaxes me while on the go.
Also part of my beauty routine is Intraceuticals Rejuvenate serum, it’s so hydrating I’d go crazy without it…even my husband steals it sometimes! And as for makeup, I absolutely cannot live without the brand new Dior Highlighter Bronzer stick!

Favorite playlist
Anything Ray Coniff…reminds me of my father and being at home.

The one item you would never travel without
My grey blue cashmere scarf that my mother gave me.

Tricks to avoid over-packing
Pack outfits! Especially if it’s a short trip because you usually have all your plans sorted out – lunch, dinner and maybe a visit to a museum or some shops – which reduces the odds of over-packing.
