Christian Louboutin Launches Exclusive Collection with Designer Sabyasachi

Master of creativity Christian Louboutin has teamed up with his close friend, Indian couture designer Sabyasachi, to create a capsule collection of women’s and men’s shoes as well small leather goods – all of which boast the handcrafted art of sari fabrics extracted from Sabyasachi’s archives. Both designers share a mutual love for the Indian culture, a love that has ignited a new partnership of creativity and unique craftsmanship.

“Indian handicraft is the best of the best in the world. The luxuriance of Indian workmanship is at the maximum. I would love the world outside of India to love it as I do,” stated Christian Louboutin.

Commenting on the partnership, Sabyasachi said: “India has been at the heart of luxury since the age of the Maharajas. Working with Christian revisits that couture tradition, connecting our handicrafts with his eclectic point of view to create bespoke delights for cultural magpies.”

The fruitful connection first started in July 2015, when Christian Louboutin created the shoes that walked the runway of Sabyasachi’s annual couture show in Mumbai and repeated itself again in October 2016, along with a series of handbags. Once Christian visited the Indian designer’s archive of saris and ribbons, he felt like it was his duty to bring this beauty to the whole world. The collection hence features a dozen of women’s shoe styles, including a thigh-high boot with delicate leather strips. The men’s shoe styles are also a nod to the designer’s staple items, injected with a hint of Sabyasachi’s magic.

A book entitled “Deep Sleep for Beauty” will also be offered in stores and will be included in the special shoe boxes, telling the story of a beautiful Indian actress cast under a spell from which only the two designers have the ability to free her.

And the best news is that the Sabyasachi capsule collection is available exclusively at Level Shoes, Dubai.
