Chanel Presents Flying Cloud

Nothing embodies Gabrielle Chanel’s quest for freedom more than a flying cloud and you must be wondering why.

The “Flying Cloud”, a four-masted yacht that belonged to Hugh Grosvenor – the second Duke of Westminster and a man who counted the most in the designer’s life, was a gorgeous yacht with a black hull and a white wooden deck which was a place for vacationing. It was also the emblem of a lifestyle in which the most extravagant luxury came alive to recall what Chanel used to say, “Luxury is a necessity that starts where necessity stops.” Oh, and yes, it’s the name of the house’s new high jewelry collection that depicts the summer vibes and the marine elements ever-so-elegantly.

Just like the marine life, the nautical colors seem to perfectly fit the vision of Mademoiselle Chanel, with both their freshness and their contrast. In fact, Chanel was characterized by contrast: the harshness of landscapes from her childhood, the stringent purity of the abbey at Aubazine, and the ruggedness of Scottish moors were intensely opposed to places, one easily refers to as “resort destinations”.

This exquisite jewelry collection pays homage to the radiant moments in the life of Gabrielle Chanel in 2 chapters. While the first one depicts the essential elements of life at sea and features the Precious Float, Sparkling Lines, Yachting Day, Sailor Tattoo, Turquoise Waters and Deep Blue sets, the second one presents a series of variations of the summer wardrobe and explores the freedom of movement and clothing that seem to float around the body through the Summer Cruise, Golden Braid, Sailor Suit, Sunny Rope and Sapphire Stripes lines.
