Shoemaking is an art in its own right and Christian Louboutin is an artist who highlights its beauty and elegance in every piece he creates. Vertiginously high stilettos with red-lacquered soles have become his signature and are found in every fashionista’s wardrobe. Can you blame them? These shoes are actually a delight for the eyes and the feet!

The French designer decided to further explain his vision and this book does just that. His eclectic and exotic designs are featured in dramatic photographs, whether they incorporate feathers, beads or sequins. His iconic glamorous creations also get their share from this volume, as well as his collaborations with David Lynch.

This book also reveals the shoe designer’s life, travels and inspirations from a very personal point of view, through an in-depth interview. While the first of the six chapters showcases his biography, his career – from his work for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent to the opening of his first boutique in 1992, chapter two features the Louboutin boutiques around the world and highlights their varied interiors. Entitled “20 years of design”, chapter three highlights the shoes he designed over the years, while chapter four explores the interiors of Louboutin’s homes in Paris and Luxor. Chapter five focuses on the designer’s creative collaborations with David Lynch and chapter six ends the book with a detailed catalogue of his work and photos of all 120 shoe designs.
