Belt it Up - The Do’s and Don’ts

Ah, belts! Isn’t it amazing how one single accessory can take your whole outfit from nay to yay? Initially used for pure utilitarian reasons, belts have since gone a long way. Not only do they keep large clothes from falling off, they also create a must-have shape and add a bit of zest to your look. Do you need more convincing?

But there are some ways they are worn that make us totally cringe. Wearing the wrong belt can cause so much damage to your look, not to mention to your body shape and no one wants that, right?

So, we’ve decided to dedicate a whole feature for the love of belts, the different ways to wear them and most importantly, what’s in and what’s out!

Do make sure you pick the right size. If it’s too small, you’ll probably be highlighting unwanted and unflattering curves.

Don’t forget about the style. Pick a belt that stays in line with your overall look.

Do think about the width. If you have a long torso, then you should go for thick belts. And if you have a short torso, thick belts will eat up your body, so your go-to choice would be thin belts.

Don’t belt your tops. It’s tacky and so out!

If you’re wearing a loose dress and want to add some shape to your outfit, then by all means, do wear a belt! Make sure to level it down at the waist so as to highlight your figure.

Last but not least, if you’re looking for a stylish tip, do knot the end of long belt!
