Beauty Tip of the Week - Color Correction Perfection

Dark under eye circles, redness, and dullness can happen to all of us at any given time, especially if we’re stressed, traveling too much, or sleep deprived. The good news is, there are many products and color options for us to use that will perfectly hide all the imperfections.

We all know the regular concealers and correctors which come in skin tones, but most people get confused and intimidated when faced with the Orange, Purple and Green correctors. We know, they can get a bit overwhelming!
At first, these shades were limited to professionals, mainly makeup artists, but since these colors are key when it comes to perfecting an imperfection, they have now become mainstream and you can find them at most makeup counters. Once you understand how to use each color and for what, it becomes a piece of cake.

Here is a simplified Color Theory for you:

Green is used to neutralize red.
This is to be used before foundation application. Apply a generous amount on the area with redness and blend it in. Any redness, including spots will eventually vanish.
Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid by Urban Decay is a great product and easy to use.

Purple will brighten dull skin.
Many skin illuminators and make up primers always have a slight tint of purple, and it totally works. It’s a great way to brighten skin that needs an instant wake up call.
Dior Fix It Color 2 in 1 is a primer and color corrector which can be used on face, eyes and lips.

Orange is your best friend when it comes to dark circles.
Use it before applying your foundation and gently apply around the eye area. Follow with your usual foundation and dark circles will be no more.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer available in a bright Orange for this purpose is a super product.

Never underestimate the power and importance of color theory.
