Accessorizing your Hair – The Do’s and Don’ts

Have you ever noticed that your hair needs the same attention as your clothes? Wearing hair accessories is and will always be a perennial requirement for any woman trying to step up her style game. It’s really the answer to all your hair-related problems. Having a bad hair day? Wear a headband! Need to spice up an otherwise all-too average outfit? Pick a bright headpiece and make a fashionable statement.

But just like everything else, some people take accessorizing way too far and the hair piece they end up choosing either clashes with their style or simply looks awkward. Everyone’s looking for a little something to elevate their styling potential, whether it’s the shoes, the bag, the outfit and in this case, the headpiece. Still wondering how to choose a statement headpiece without looking like you’ve just walked off the set of Game of Thrones? Scroll through our golden rules…

Do pick eye-catching headbands – thank you Gossip Girl. The choices are endless, from bejeweled ones, to more subtle satin ones.

Don’t over-accessorize. Meaning, if your outfit is a statement on its own, you might want to lay low on the headpieces-front. Pick discrete barrettes or a big hair-tie.

Do channel your inner Greek Goddess by picking golden laurel crowns. Just don’t put on a toga!

Don’t underestimate the power of a good velvety or satin ribbon. If Disney Princesses can pull it off, why can’t you? All you need is a good ponytail and the confidence of Rihanna.

Do go for bejeweled turbans – here’s looking at you Diana Ross.

Unless you’re a lost princess from a lost country or more conceivably, off to your own bachelorette, do keep your tiara in your closet.

Don’t forget to contrast your hair accessories with your hair color.

But most importantly, don’t be afraid to try something new!
