A Groom’s Dress Code

While there are certain guidelines every bride should stick to for her wedding day, grooms also suffer the same fashionable fate. Granted, it’s not written in stone, but it sure is common courtesy to abide by certain rules, even in times of celebrations.

Nowadays, the groom has very little input when it comes to major decisions, what with the bride taking care of everything, from the most basic stuff to the choice of the venue. I mean, come on, brides have dreamt of their Big Day since the minute they were born, and all that is expected from the groom is to show up dressed in the proper attire. Maybe it’s a little sad, but it’s true!

So in order to make their newlywed debut an elegant matter, here are a few golden rules that might go a long way, and score the groom some points, marriage wise!

  1. The Groom must always coordinate his suit with the Bride’s gown, as to create a proper and constant pattern. Now we know the groom should not see the dress before the big day, but the bride can always make sure the styles form what we call a joint effort, or rather a “Power Duo” look.

  2. The Groom must also make sure that his attire is in line with the choice of the venue and of course, the atmosphere. For instance, if it’s a day wedding, he can settle for a linen suit. But if it’s a ballroom kind of wedding, then he should definitely opt for a tuxedo with a bedazzling bowtie.

  3. As tempting as it is to just go in sweatpants, the groom must make sure his suit fits perfectly right. Not too big and not too tight. Just enough room for him to feel comfortable on the most important day of his life. And for the suit to fit right, the groom must understand his physical proportions and make sure the sleeves fall down to his wrist, while the bottom of the jacket covers the butt and the vent doesn’t pull open. The pants, on the other hand, should fall perfectly at the top of the shoes. Simple mathematics!

  4. Last but not least, the Groom must always stand out in the crowd of wedding-goers. That said, he should accessorize right in terms of extras, such as wearing a special bowtie or even outstanding cufflinks.

Happy Wedding day!
