5 Out-of-this-World Spas

by Leonore Dicker

Tired of going to the gym? Why not take a small break from trying to reach your targeted beach body, and treat yourself to some relaxation time?

Here are 5 extraordinary spas that are well worth the detour.

Le SPA dans Le Noir – Paris & Bordeaux, France

You may have heard of the Dans Le Noir restaurant chain, which allows diners to enjoy their meal in complete darkness, as to enhance their other senses. The group has decided to launch a new concept: an obscure spa. From couple massages to hamam sessions and facials, every single treatment is done in the dark to let guests completely immersed themselves in the experience.

Floating Garden Spa – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Dutch architects Studio Noah and Anne Holtrop created this eco-friendly floating garden spa, which is covered in a green duvet designed by Patrick Blanc. Included on the island are treatment rooms, healing baths, panorama saunas and hot infinity pools overlooking the IJmeer lake. This one is truly ideal for nature-lovers!

The Blue Lagoon – Grindavík, Iceland

One of the 25 wonders of the world, this mineral-rich Blue Lagoon allows guests to bathe in six million liters of geothermal seawater. Not only is the scenery absolutely beautiful, but divers get to swim between two continents, as the American and Euro-Asian tectonic plates meet at the Blue Lagoon. Treatments include in-water massages, volcano facials and silica mud masks.

The Lime Spa – The Maldives

Part of the Huvafen Fushi hotel, this underwater spa offers exquisite treatments with a view of the ocean. As most of you probably know, the Maldives are a group of islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The Lime Spa is an immersive environment with aquatic surroundings, where massages, steam rooms and salt-water floatation are all available.

Hershey’s Spa – Pennsylvania, USA

Are you familiar with Hershey's? The chocolate brand has its own hotel and spa where they offer delicious chocolate treatments. Want to get massaged with cocoa? How does a chocolate sugar scrub and chocolate fondue wrap sound? We know we’d love the whipped cocoa bath.
