Martial arts is a great way for women to defend themselves without having to use extreme force or being big in size. It is based on hitting weak spots and using your internal energy to increase the impact when hitting your opponent, or in the worst case scenario, your attacker. This is why martial arts is more suitable for women, and would be the perfect way to defend themselves if need be.
Women are smaller, and less powerful than men. Therefore martial arts will teach them how to protect themselves without the need for being very strong and having a bulky physique. Being fit and strong is a plus in martial arts, but it is not a necessity. One of Bruce Lee’s famous quotes is:“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.” In other words, being strong isn’t an advantage, but being flexible and experienced is the key to surviving a fight or an attack.
The stereotype that martial arts is “manly” is clearly wrong, and that’s why it, and other similar sports should strongly be encouraged for women of all ages.
After all … there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing an elegant woman able to defend herself. So what are you waiting for? Go check out your nearest MMA studio. It’s fun, it will make you strong, will get you fit, and might just save your life!
