The Trends We Hope We Never (Ever) See Again

With the global pandemic in full swing, we have a lot of time on our hands to think about a lot of issues, from Mother Nature to the economy and of course Fashion. So what about fashion? We bet you’re already thinking about the trends you used to flaunt some years ago, that today you would rather burn than ever wear again. We totally get you…ditto.

We’re going to level with you though…fashion is all about recycling past trends and looking into history and past runways to learn more about the inspirations, but there are definitely some trends that should stay in the past and never resurface again…well until further notice at least.

Throughout the 90s and the 2000s for instance, a whole lot of styles were subject to critique and whatnot, pushing us to question a lot of issues at hand. Were they trends, were they fads? Well here’s to hoping they were just fads and that we will never have the misfortune of wearing them as long as we shall live!

  1. The transparent bra straps….paired with strapless tops. Worst. Combination. Ever. Whatever happened to strapless bras?
  2. Lower-than-thou low-waisted jeans (circa Britney Spears and Paris Hilton in the 2000s). If your underwear is showing, then it’s not the right jeans for you.
  3. Wedged sneakers. Good old chunky sneakers are all the hype now so why don’t we just stick to that instead? And if you need the extra height, then heels are still in.
  4. Designer trucker hats. Wouldn’t it be better if we left them in 2004 with Missy Elliott? We thought so.
  5. Another trend we hope never gets to see the light again is the tiny bolero jacket. Enough said.
  6. Finally, if you’re wondering what to do with your ballet leg-warmers, well leave them for ballet purposes and nothing more. We beg of you.
