The Slip Dress: the Do’s and Don’ts

Yes, it is true! The slip dress is back and it has invaded the Spring-Summer 2016 runways quite joyfully! We’ve seen it everywhere, from Alberta Ferretti’s runway show to Saint Laurent’s presentation and we are loving it! Our verdict? It’s extremely comfortable and automatically grants you a nonchalant-meets-laidback look.

Thanks to the beautiful Kate Moss- and to the nineties- this seductive piece is making quite the impression on the fashion industry. Now we know we’re far from pulling it off à la Kate Moss, but we can at least try blending it well with our silhouette! Midi or maxi, lace embroidered or classic, the slip dress is now ticking all the boxes.

But before you splash into this feisty trend, here are a few of our cardinal rules:

Do keep your overall look as simple and classic as possible. You want to keep your silhouette extremely evasive.

Do pair your slip dress with some pumps as to give it a bit of class and of course, to lay off the pajama look.

Do layer it with a white blouse as to add style. You can even wear a t-shirt under just like our favorite model Kendall Jenner.

Do pick a slip dress with a high slit to show off your tanned legs.

Do pair your slip dress with a leather jacket and motorcycle boots for an edgy feel.

Don’t wear the slip dress with flip flops or sandals, unless you want it to look like a night gown.

Don’t wear a see-through slip dress, it is already daring as it is!

Don’t wear a mini slip dress, it could always go wrong and send the wrong message

Don’t wear too many accessories with your slip dress, minimalism is key!
