The Fanny-Pack – The Do’s and Don’ts

Disclaimer: if the mere thought of the fanny-pack takes you back to kindergarten, then just go ahead and call it a belt-bag.

Fanny-packs are yet another 90’s staple accoutrement to make their way back into our lives. Don’t get us wrong though, we’re loving the unexpected comeback, it’s just that there are so many questions that come with said comeback. Prime example: How on earth do we wear them? Is there a wrong way to style them? Are we even going to look good? Rest assured ladies, you will always look swell, no matter what!

So brace yourselves, because we’re going to make your day a whole lot better! We don’t know if you’ve ever thought about it, but do you realize that wearing a fanny pack will free your hands from all the handbag-hassle we women have to put up with? Gone are the days where your arms are tamed with a red line from your heavy purse. Gone are the days where you have to worry about the whereabouts of your bag. You can now put your hands up in the air and dance like nobody’s watching if you want to! Go. All. Out.

As long as you have your bag cinched to your waist, the world is your oyster! Heck you can even do a backflip in the middle of the street if you feel like it! Whatever you do, just keep an open mind and make sure you stick to these golden rules.

Do pick an innovative style à la Sarah-Jessica Parker. And by innovative we mean suede belt bags, calf-hair and leather.

Don’t go for a neon polyester 90’s fanny-pack. We beg of you.

Do create a memorable style outside the helm of your fanny-pack. You should nail the fundamentals before proceeding to the accessories.

If you don’t want to look like a mom taking her kids to Disneyland, don’t stick to zippered and nylon styles. If you’re a fan of the oldies, marry a vintage outfit with a brand- new innovative fanny pack.

Do invest in a waist-cinching fanny pack with a long belt that rolls over twice.

If you’re wearing a dress and fear you might ruin its flair, cast all your fears aside! Do pick a nice handy fanny pack and let it fall down on your fit-and-flare dress.

Do go for colorful fanny packs. Add them to a coat and there you have it! Your dream-outfit!
