With each season, a series of unabashed bags and purses take over the fashion industry. Some bags – more than others – make it to the It-list, while others just rest under the “Fad” column. For instance, if you spot your favorite celebrities donning a new bag, then the message is obvious: get yourself the same because it is on.
Last season, we saw the rise of Dior’s huge tote bag and Chloé’s glamorous multicolored cross-body bag. Our Instagram feed was flooded with the likes of these purses and we all got struck by the same fabulous lightening bolt. Why exactly? Call it a need for social appropriation or call it a need to showcase style and glamor. Either way, it has been existent since the dawn of time and the industry has been profiting from its expansion. Far from being a negative thing, this phenomenon has also favored the rise of new up-and-coming brands and the result has been quite versatile.
