Tank-Over-T Shirt Look: The Do’s and Don’ts

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for a while now, you’ve surely noticed the star-studded affair of white t-shirt-meets-dresses on the streets. And you’ve surely thought about it a million times before taking the leap into layer-land. And who’s to blame, really! This trend is considerably daring and we’re not sure we have what it takes to pull it off like Kendall Jenner does.

But we’re here to put your troubles at ease; wearing a white t-shirt with a spaghetti-strap dress is not rocket science. You don’t have to own a supermodel’s body or have Karlie Kloss’ super long legs. The only thing you should possess, however, is the confidence of Lady Gaga in her famous meat-dress! These days, the concept of “layering” typically applies to an average t-shirt combined with some sort of upper layer, be it a shirt or a dress.

But since we’re addressing the issue of dresses, we thought it would be convenient to ease you into this trend, the Azyaamode way!

Do wear a striped shirt under a black slip dress to give your silhouette a bit of edge.

Don’t wear a patterned t-shirt with a patterned tank. You want to balance out your look before looking like a lost clown. The layering effect is already too much as it is, so you might want to cool down with the patterns.

Do wear your tank-over-t shirt look with knee-high boots, à la Kendall Jenner; supermodel style!

Don’t go for a turtleneck under your dress. Yes, sometimes more is more!

Do pair your tank-over-t shirt with a bohemian dress. Add a cool hat and you’re golden! Did someone say Boho-chic?

Do wear a button down shirt under a tank, for a much-needed professional look. And while you’re at it, why not try out a denim shirt?

Do go for a choker and some converse with your look, as if you were coming out of a 90’s catalogue. Because who doesn’t love the nineties?
