Talent Watch – Mania Zamani

Having grown up in Tehran, Mania Zamani’s life has been deeply entrenched in Persian tradition. Her subsequent move to New York saw her delve into a more creative world: Mania studied gemology and jewelry design at GIA and further honed her skills in jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Architectural, modern, and harmonious is how best one can describe Mania’s signature design aesthetics that continue to draw upon her multi-cultural background. She started her eponymous line in 2013 with one-of-a-kind high-jewelry pieces, which she sold mainly to private clients. In 2014, she launched her first collection, Unity, followed by East/West in 2016. “I wanted to create architecturally inspired, modern jewelry which is highly viable,” says the designer. The Unity collection – captures through its designs – Mania’s ardent passion for mathematics, realization of the universal and sacred nature of geometry, and transcultural architectural forms. “As far as the East/West collection is concerned, I look to the world from both an eastern and a western perspective, and to the design history from yesterday through today and tomorrow,” says Mania, who is busy putting together her design book. Besides, she is also working on a new collection, which she hopes to unveil in July. Do watch for the new pieces; we reckon it will be worth the wait!
