Say Hello to Healthy Curls

While some ladies like to keep their hair straight, others would love to embrace their unique curls. However, most of us know that taking care of curly hair can be pretty tricky, seeing that the curls make it dry as they prevent the scalp from producing enough natural oils to hydrate it.

In order to help you get the healthy curls that you’re looking for, here are some useful tips!

  • Giving your hair a pre-shampoo treatment is essential. To do so, apply a conditioner or conditioning oil to dry hair – leaving it for at least 20 minutes. This step might make your hair care routine longer, but you will realize later on that your hair is much softer and easy to detangle.
  • This one might sound weird but it’s quite important. Instead of shampooing your hair every day, make conditioner your best friend. Even if you don’t shampoo, apply it to your hair while in the shower then rinse it off. This will actually prevent drying out your curls.
  • Keep in mind that curly hair calls for a mild shampoo and avoid harsh ones. You just want to clean your hair, not strip away too much of its natural oils!
  • Speaking of natural oils, avoid using very hot water when washing your hair as it tends to dry it out.
  • Avoid rubbing your hair thoroughly while washing it. Instead, divide it into sections and wash and rinse each of them alone for a tangle-free hair.
  • Nobody likes frizz, so use micro-fiber towels or a t-shirt to dry your hair gently. Flip your head over, divide it into 2 sections and gently place your hair in two towels. Grab each by the ends and twist it to secure your curls. Clip them together and leave them for at least 30 minutes, allowing your hair to absorb moisture which will leave you with defined, frizz-free curls.
  • Replace your rough cotton pillowcases with silk ones, which will help you avoid breaking your curls.
  • Use a wide-tooth comb when combing your hair and gently detangle it, section by section.
